Familiar “home” wins for Kevin Na and Jon Rahm

It was an impressive Sunday on the European and PGA Tours. As one golf legend secured consecutive victories in Spain, another continued his good form in Las Vegas, hoping this win secures him a place on Tiger’s team. Read on to catch up on all the action from the Open de Espana and the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Hometown Hero

Jon Rahm returned to the European Tour this past weekend to successfully defend his Open de Espana title. The 24-year-old started Sunday’s final round with a five-stroke lead and never wavered, dominating the action at Club de Campo.

Sunday’s win marks Rahm’s fifth European Tour title, and his second this year after winning the Irish Open in July. It also means Rahm now leads the Race to Dubai standings, overtaking Open champion Shane Lowry.

“In front of a home crowd, it's always really hard for me to keep everything under control and to play the weekend that I did for them, it's always really fun,” Rahm said after his win. “I can't wait to come back next year and hopefully do it three times. It was unlike anything else. Spanish crowds love golf, they love us coming back. It's hard to believe how many people come out here.”

A hot putter = emotional win in Vegas

Kevin Na is proving he’s in it to win it. The Korean born American captured his fourth PGA Tour title on Sunday, winning the Shriners Open after a sudden-death playoff with Patrick Cantlay.

The 36-year-old began Sunday’s round with a three-shot lead, that quickly dwindled after a disastrous triple-bogey on the 10th. But Na was able to hold his nerve, and thanks in large part to a hot putter, win his second title at TPC Summerlin.

“The 10th was hard to shake it off, but I made some great putts coming down the stretch,” Na said. Adding, “I was just grinding, grinding everything I can to make that putt. I'm sure my emotions showed that.”

With his wife, daughter and father in the crowd, it was a special victory for the Las Vegas resident and one he hopes will be enough to secure him a spot on Tiger Woods’ Presidents Cup Team.

“I'm hoping he texts me. If not, I'm going to be texting him,” joked Na after his win.
