Bettinardi Golf is riding high after their newest brand ambassador won on Sunday at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Just two weeks after signing to the brand, China’s Haotong Li has well and truly raised the brand’s profile with his stellar performance at Emirates Golf Club
Record Breaking at its finest…
22-year-old Li’s final round included holing 14 out of 14 putts inside 10-foot and back-to-back birdies on the final holes. Helping him to ultimately beat Rory McIlroy by 1-stroke but also set an impressive new tournament record low score of 23-under par. Over the course of four rounds Li carded 30 birdies (the most at the event) and ranked first in putts per GIR plus putts per round. A result the European Tour dubbed “putting perfection” and that the golfer firmly credits to his new putter – a Bettinardi Custom Studio Stock 3 Tour Edition Putter.
“I think because I just signed with my new sponsor, Bettinardi, that helped me a lot,” said Li.
Telling reporters after his win, “The last four holes was some of the best shots in my life so far.”
Li’s achievement in Dubai makes him the first-ever Asian winner of the tournament and also makes him the first male golfer from China to break into the world’s top-50. All stats that go a long way in proving Bettinardi made a smart move in signing this rising star.
