May is National Golf Month and this year’s campaign is all about the GIRLS!!! Encouraging ladies to take up the game for the first time or get those who have previously played golf back out onto the course.
Research conducted by KPMG in 2016 found that females made up 25% of golfers in the whole of Europe but only about 15% in the United Kingdom. National Golf Month’s 2017 initiative is hoping to change that by focusing their efforts on getting more girls into the sport, with the goal of reaching 25% in the UK.
“It’s clear that women’s golf is an untapped market in this country compared to the rest of Europe. National Golf Month presents a real opportunity for clubs, centres and pros to exploit this participation gap and come up with new and engaging ways to grow the sport,” Charley Hull, Team GB golfer and Ladies European Tour pro explains.
To help achieve this growth golf pros, clubs and centres are being urged to offer a variety of taster sessions and free golf to women of all ages. You can visit
