Selecting the right sole shape (grind) and bounce angle is key to turf interaction and strike consistency:
- F Grind – Full sole for players who prefer a square face on full swings and narrow-to-medium turf.
- S Grind – Narrow trailing edge relief for neutral-to-firm turf and players who like to lean the shaft.
- M Grind – Versatile crescent relief for opening/closing the face around the greens.
- D Grind – Higher bounce with heel/toe relief for steeper swings or softer conditions.
- K Grind – Wide, forgiving sole designed to glide through sand and soft turf.
Quick rule of thumb: steeper attack and softer turf favour more bounce; shallower attack and firmer turf favour less bounce.
