It was a sensational Sunday in Brazil as Justin Rose and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson battled it out for gold. In the end it was the Englishman who came out on top after an incredible birdie putt on the final hole. Leaving Stenson to claim silver and America’s Matt Kuchar, bronze.

Claiming his first win of 2016, Rose was elated to be the first Olympic golf champion in over a century. With many of the top players in the world including Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth choosing to sit it out, Rose’s commitment to the games has always been positive. The 36-year-old even arrived to Rio a week early to ensure he was at the Opening Ceremony. Fully embracing every part of the experience made his win on Sunday just a bit sweeter.
“That felt better than anything I’ve ever won. It was the best tournament I’ve ever done,” Rose told reporters afterwards.
“It feels absolutely incredible,” he said. “The whole week, I’ve been so focused. I’ve been so into it. I’ve been so up for it. It was just the most magical week, it really was.”
