Tiger Woods Fit to Tee-Off Today at Valhalla
Tiger Woods caused quite a stir yesterday when he showed up at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky declaring he was fit and ready to take on the final major of 2014.

Woods was forced to withdraw from last weekend’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational due to a back spasm, leaving many to wonder whether he would be able to make this week’s PGA Championship.

But the Nike player assured the press yesterday that the issue he suffered with in Ohio was very different from the back troubles he struggled with last year that ultimately led to surgery in March.

“It was a pinched nerve.  But once they put the bone back in place, it was fine,” said Woods.  “The pain was not in the site of the surgery.  It was different than it had been before.”

Despite his recent health woes and lack of top finishes, Woods is still a crowd pleaser and brings in the fans with every tournament he plays in.  But unless the 38-year-old can make some incredible strides this weekend on the golf course it looks like Woods will be out of the running for September’s Ryder Cup.

“Tiger would be a great addition to our team,” team captain Tom Watson said earlier this week.  “As I've said all along, I would pick Tiger Woods if he's healthy and playing well.”

As he tees-off today, Woods will likely be hoping to stay healthy and well throughout the four rounds in his bid to capture his 5th PGA Championship title.
